High School Math Year End Professional Learning Event June 20, 2023:
Supporting Productive Struggle to Develop Perseverance in Students 8:30-noon.
Struggle in mathematics occurs when students face a challenging task that they do not immediately know how to solve. We will explore some ideas that give students the opportunity to develop positive mathematics identities and view perseverance as an essential part of learning. Keynote address: Representative from Occupational Therapy and Mental Health
Perseverance in Action: Playing with Rover 1:00 -2:30 PM
In this session you will use the motion of the TI- Rover to explore topics in the mathematics curriculum such as: Rates of Change, Polygons and interior/exterior angles, and Ratios and Scaling. No coding experience necessary.

High School Math Field Testing: Math 10C, Math 20-1, and Math 20-2 teachers are invited to sign up for field-testing to be administered at the teacher's discretion between June 1, 2023, and the last day of classes. A field test consists of 9 machine scored questions and 1 written response question to be administered in 50 minutes. Please visit the Mathematics 10-12 CSA SharePoint site for more information and to sign up before May 26, 2023.

Numeracy Screeners Unlocked: Ordering, Administering and Entering Numeracy Screeners - Join us as we explore the ins and outs of administering and entering Numeracy Screeners. Whether you have administered the Numeracy Screeners many times, or this is your first time… this session will provide you with the skills and confidence to order and administer this assessment with ease. With step-by-step guidance and practical tips, you'll learn how to administer the Numeracy Screeners and enter data into PTP for easy analysis.

Expo-sciences pancandienne: Teachers in grade 7-12 are invited to register for a FREE virtual STEM field trip to the ESPC (Expo-sciences pancandienne). Teachers can choose a date between May 15 to 19th to explore this virtual event with their students. Click here!

CASLT (Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers) : Languages Build Video Contest 2023 Winners! From January to March 2023, CASLT received many videos representing eight different languages! If teachers are interested, check out the winning videos here to get inspired for a video submission next year!
Canada-Wide Science Fair: Please refer to the French Immersion SWAG’s information about the CWSF (Canada-Wide Science Fair), which takes place at the Edmonton Convention Centre.
